In my weekly martial arts class, our instructor often gives us short lessons about Asian culture during break time. Last week he talked about the “way of the warrior” or the bushido code. I guess it’s a little like the honor code for knights of the round table. Some of the principles are pretty impressive. Anyone who tried to live by them would lead an amazing life, I think. I asked our instructor if he would teach us more about this code in future weeks. I would really like to embrace a system that required total commitment like this code did. I may not be Asian, but I can still act with honor.
