Welcome little Katie to your first “Groundhog Day”.  I just learned that Punxsutawney Phil emerged to see his shadow and this means we are due for another 6 weeks of winter.  German tradition holds that if a hibernating animal sees its shadow on Feb. 2, winter will last another six weeks (if no shadow is seen then spring is supposed to come early).  Judging from all the snow and ice outside I think the little groundhog is right.It’s raining outside today, but the ice is still here.  It will be real nasty if it happens to freeze.  Take a lot at the picture to the left.  I’m going to work from home today.I tried to put the blue onsie with the lion on little Katie this morning, but she was not be able to extend her legs.  Our daughter is getting bigger by the day.  It seems that she really started to grow in the last couple of days.A friend came over to see little Katie today.  Sometimes you have a hard time quieting little Katie down…this was not one of those times.  She slept through most of the visit.  She’s got a big night ahead of her of crying and keeping her parents up.Little Katie likes to play the game I have affectionately coined “The Flying Chipmunk”.  I basically cradle her in my hands and rock her vertically up and down in the sky.  It sure does quiet her down and stop her from crying.  Maybe she is asking herself “What in the world was that”?WHAT I LEARNED TODAY————————————1)  Little Katie loves “The Flying Chipmunk”.

I’ve never really worried about most of my furniture being stained. I know it’ll come clean so I feel it’s pretty safe. But when my girlfriend and I bought new furniture and she was cool with me getting leather furniture, I started to worry about the messes and clean up. Leather always seemed like one of those fabrics where one something spilt on it, it was ruined forever. I found out that’s not the  case at all. My sister opened up a nail salon in Albany Oregon two years ago. She rented some commercial space and has been there ever since. I was over at her house a couple of weeks ago having dinner with her and her family. After a few minutes of thinking about it I suggested that maybe she should use her walkout basement as her salon and not have to rent commercial space. He invited me one time to come take a tour of a house he was doing some work in. I went and he showed me around. I looked around in awe. It was bigger than anything I had ever seen. Young children are curious by nature, and it is so important to nurture that enthusiasm for learning. Smart parents know that they can take every moment and turn it into something special, simply by incorporating an everyday activity and making it fun. As a mom of young children, I have found that the best way to start is to find activities for toddlers at a preschool. Many of the better schools have programs designed for this age group, and my kid always liked the way that they could do art and free play. My kids are just entering school, but I owe their string start to a fantastic preschool.

My son had been complaining about sleeping in a baby bed for about three months when my husband and I decided that maybe it was time to move him up from his converted crib to a real bedroom set. I am rather sad to put away the baby decorations for the last time, but it is also exciting to see him growing into a healthy, normal young man. The set we finally bought was a lovely warm pine bed, dresser, and wardrobe set. He loves it already.
