Mary was having some trouble with her 14 year old daughter, Jenny. I was at their house dropping off my daughter when I watched her interacting with Jenny. It seems that she was more interested in being Jenny’s friend than her mother when she let her get her belly button pierced and allowed her to wear the short skirt to the dance that she was taking them. I have noticed over the last year that Jenny seems to be ordering Mary around and Mary was trying to do whatever she asked. I felt a little uncomfortable as I embarked on the topic of Mary meeting with my parenting life coach for women. I explained how she helped me stay strong and firm, and patient with what I believed was the right thing to allow my daughter to do. My child and I have good relationship because I was taught by my coach to stick to my beliefs and be consistent. I told Mary it may make her life easier in the long run and be better for Jenny, too.
