For me, one of the very best parts of Christmas is Santa Claus. It’s not that I like the big jolly guys bringing gifts to all of the good kids, but the mythology behind the Santa Claus figure. I love the idea of a saintly individual bringing gifts to people, which course originated with saint Nicholas in the 4th century. Right now, I do Santa Claus and stockings with my children, but when they get a little older I plan on teaching them the history behind Santa Claus, and creating some nice traditions to go with that, maybe donating some time at a shelter.
